Faced with difficult issues of discrimination and poverty, Hamman took a different route than his faithful brother.  Hamman is quick to anger and often acts before he thinks which makes dealing with delicate situations very difficult.  He often butts heads with his brother over his faith and stubbornly refuses to accept the religion as a defining characteristic.  Even though he is stubborn and angry, he is deeply loyal to his brother, the orphans, and anyone who he deems as a friend.  He has a deep respect for his brother and his devotion and attempts to be more like him.
